Their strength is failing them as they wait for kind-hearted people to save them and give them hope for a better future.
Miley was also waiting for good humans to save her, as she lay helpless in the grass on the side of a highway, without the strength to get up.
The right people step up to help
In July 2023, many people contacted St. Louis Wandering Rescueinforming them that there was a stray dog ​​on the side of a highway.
After one of the callers gave emergency services the exact kilometer of the highway, rescue personnel knew where the dog was.
Knowing that the frightened dog could run away at any moment, Donna Lochmann immediately went to rescue him.
As soon as she arrived at the exact location mentioned by the caller, she saw a scared dog lying in the grass. Lochmann was heartbroken after seeing how emaciated and tired she looked.
The rescuer didn’t want to frighten the puppy any further, so she slowly walked down the slope. The dog looked at her with a sad expression on his face.
While she spoke to the puppy in a gentle, soothing manner, Lochmann gave her a few treats to gain her trust.
Grateful to be saved
The sad and lonely dog ​​recognized the friend in her and began to wag his tail. She felt relieved that someone was taking care of her and putting so much effort into helping her.
The puppy, later named Miley Marker, let her rescuer put a leash around her neck. As she tried to stand, her weak legs wobbled and she gave up.
Lochmann was deeply saddened to see that Miley did not have the strength to get up.
Just as she moved closer to hug Miley, the puppy gave her a big kiss and melted her heart.
As Lochmann carried her up a steep hill to his car, the sweet dog kept kissing her.
It was her way of thanking her savior for saving her life and treating her with such care and affection.
After arriving at Stray Rescue in St. Louis, Miley underwent a complete medical exam. Her caregivers were heartbroken to learn she was ill. She was so hungry that she ate everything she could find on the highway.
Lochmann gave her a bath to get all the fleas off her body, and Miley couldn’t wait to give her savior another kiss.
Miley’s caregivers firmly believed that she would make a full recovery. Despite the terrible conditions she lived in, she was extremely affectionate and everyone who met her ended up falling in love with her.
Her caregivers gave her all their love and they couldn’t stop hugging this brave and invincible girl. Miley felt loved and safe like never before.
A new chapter in Miley’s life
Soon, she was ready to go into foster care and start a new chapter in her life.
His host family was happy to welcome him into their home in Saint-Louis and help him regain his strength. They gave her a toy in the shape of a goldfish and Miley was delighted with it. She took it everywhere she went.
Miley needed some time to relax and catch up on her sleep. It didn’t take long for him to start enjoying the warmth and security of his loving home. Little by little, she became more and more energetic.
Her host family was enchanted by her.

Her adoptive mother said it was Miley’s way of expressing her gratitude. The sweet puppy was delighted to have been saved.
