Stray dogs live on the streets, deprived of the human love and care they need. Having a loving home is all they want.
As they lack interaction with humans, stray dogs become fearful and nervous. Although they long to be reunited with their humans, they don’t know how to trust them.
Roo was one of those stray, fearful puppies who didn’t know how to interact with people.
In March 2023, the little puppy decided to conquer his fear and began looking for a kind human to help him find a better life.
While walking the Central California neighborhood, he came to a family’s backyard, hoping to get the help he needed.
Meet Sweet Roo
It was 8 p.m. and Diane Ewert, a dog lover and rescuer, was at home when she heard loud barking coming from outside. She quickly went out to check.
Ewert was heartbroken when she saw a scared little puppy sitting in her backyard with a sad look in her eyes.
When she tried to approach, the dog barked at her. She offered him food, but the puppy still wouldn’t let her near him. Ewert realized she would need to use a crate to catch him.
She went in to get the crate, and after the dog got in, she brought him inside.
The puppy, later named Roo, was terrified. Ewert tried to pet him, but the dog shook, so she gave up. Seeing his reaction, Ewert was sure that Roo had never interacted with humans before.
Adorable dog learns to trust humans
In the morning the dog was taken to the vet. The vet scanned him for a flea, but found none.
Roo was neutered and microchipped. He received his vaccinations and Ewert took him home. The little puppy was still sedated, so she carried him in her arms. It was the first time she was able to touch him.
On the third day, the puppy started eating. From that day on, Ewert sat with him and hand-fed him several times. After six days, she gained Roo’s trust and he finally let her pet him.
Ewert’s heart melted when she saw that the dog trusted her and enjoyed her cuddles.
“I was able to pet him. I get chills talking about this. I was able to love him the way I wanted that first night. And then from that moment on… he blossomed. Ewert said.
The adorable dog was no longer afraid. He gave his savior soft kisses, licking his face and wagging his tail. She was the first human he trusted and loved.
Get the happy ending he dreamed of
Realizing he had recovered from his trauma, Ewert announced on social media that the adorable dog was ready to look for his forever family.
Roo stole her family’s hearts as soon as they saw her photo online. His lifelong mother, Kathleen, arrived from Chicago and took him to her lifelong home.
Ewert knew she would miss Roo, but she was happy that the charming puppy found a great family who adored him.
The doggie integrates quite quickly into his family. He has a furry brother named Kibi. The two brothers get along very well and are living their best lives together.
You can follow their daily adventures and activities on their Instagram account. Roo is a true love virus and he loves to snuggle up with his family and give them the sweetest kisses.
