I have always had great admiration for people willing to take care of several puppies at once. This is truly a wonderful act of kindness.
Although it will likely be very exhausting and expensive to take care of a small family of dogs, or just several different families, it is still amazing.
This couple really showed how much they care by adopting this scared momma dog and her eight puppies. It’s certainly a lot.
A call that changed Thom’s life
When Thom was called by a shelter worker in California and informed of a pregnant Pittie. who needed help, he wanted to help.
The staff had already done a great job taking care of her and they noted that she was extremely friendly to everyone.
One night, out of the blue, the Pittie, named Cholula, gave birth to eight puppies. Her instincts kicked in immediately and she focused on taking care of her babies.
When Thom came to the shelter and decided to take her in, he noticed that she was a little shy and didn’t know how to react.
Despite this, she welcomed her new friends and they were already on their way to a beautiful new home in California.
Thom carefully picked up the puppies and brought them inside the house. Mama Cholula was there, watching every step to make sure nothing would happen to them.
A new home for the family

The couple remarked how amazing Cholula looked. She was always very attentive to her puppies and they never left her side.
Sometimes they wandered around the room, but never too far. They would then pass out and take a long nap. It was so adorable.
Later, Thom thought it would be a good idea to introduce Cholula to their dog, Ruby. Although they weren’t sure what would happen at the time, they were pleasantly surprised.
Cholula and Ruby immediately got along very well and it was obvious that they were going to become very good friends.
Thom said: “They were immediately attracted to each other. It was almost as if she needed Ruby to feel safe.»
Say goodbye
After a certain amount of time has passed, the puppies had finally opened their eyes, and it was a whole new world for them.
They were so captivated by everything they saw and loved exploring the house. A few weeks later, Cholula had become very attached to her adoptive parents.
Thom noticed that she was always exhausted to take care of her babies during the day, and sometimes he had to take her to bed.
Despite the fact that everyone in the house was exhausted, the couple worked hard to adapt and were doing a good job.
They had many different activities during the day. However, Thom’s favorite was different. He said: “I loved spending our mornings with Cholula watching Disney films. »
Rather early, they were all allowed to go out to get used to to the real world. This meant they got dirty sometimes, and it certainly wasn’t easy to convince them to agree to a bath.
When the puppies were finally old enough, they and Cholula were finally ready for adoption. It was difficult for the couple because they loved the dog family so much.
However, they knew it was ultimately for the best. Thom finally said: “This is the problem with foster care. Although it never gets easier to say goodbye, I can’t wait to start again.»
