After meeting Skipper, you will say: Now I’ve seen it all.
I’ve seen my fair share of unusual dogs; puppies with tails on their foreheads, puppies with more ears than they actually need, and a bunch of unique features.
But six legs? It’s a surprise, even for me!
When Skipper, the Aussie-Border Collie mix, was born, professionals thought they would encounter many problems with this little girl.
But they didn’t expect Skipper to surprise them!
The world’s most unusual puppy turned out to be completely healthy and healthy, with extra pieces of herself to love and just missing a loving human to care for her.
A puppy named Miracle
The staff of Neel Veterinary Hospitalin Oklahoma City, will never forget the day Skipper was born. Her eight siblings in the mixed Aussie-Border Collie litter were different from her.
The captain was special from the moment she came into the world.
Unfortunately, her mother rejected her because that’s what animals do with their puppies that they deem different.
But that didn’t stop Skipper, or Miracle, because they also called her to show everyone that she defies all odds, even though she is only a few days old.
As Neel Veterinary staff posted in their social media statement, Skipper was the first puppy to be born ALIVE in these conditions:
“She suffers from a type of congenital congenital disorder called monocephalus dipygus and monocephalus rachipagus dibrachius tetrapus, which simply means she has 1 head and chest cavity but 2 pelvic regions, 2 lower urinary tracts, 2 reproductive systems, 2 tails and 6 paws, among others. It is likely that she was going to have a littermate but they did not separate in utero. She also has signs of spina bifida along her spine.»
A closer examination of the puppy showed that despite his extraordinary condition, Skipper was a healthy dog. She felt no pain – no discomfort at all.
Skipper was a normal puppy, as strange as that may sound.
“She behaves like a strong, healthy puppy, so we want to give her a chance,” Dr. Néel said. “This makes me really happy because she’s so strong! She’s kind of like the underdog, you know. You support her.
The reason for Skipper’s condition is complex, but veterinarians believe it is the result of two embryos failing to separate in the uterus. She is not a Siamese twin; he’s a puppy with a few doubles.
And, to everyone’s surprise, all six of his legs seem to work!
After Skipper’s birth was announced on social media, many people were allowed to comment that Skipper shouldn’t be alive or that the hospital should put him to sleep forever because some animals are not meant to be saved.
One man proved them all wrong and Skipper accepted despite all his diagnoses and further delay.
The captain’s voyage
Skipper, the most unusual puppy Oklahoma City has ever seen, started a family, even though her mother rejected her.
She had two amazing hooman paws, a couple who had experience handling dogs with diagnoses. The captain’s voyage has been continuously documented on social media to make sure everyone knows how this little superstar is doing.
Unfortunately, as time proved, Skipper’s condition was much more serious than anyone thought.
About a month later, after settling in at home and learning how to make a dog, Skipper was also diagnosed with hydrocephalus, as if she hadn’t already had too many diagnoses.
This meant that Skipper, in addition to his regular physical therapy, would have to undergo many frequent exams, including CT scans. The little rockstar also had trouble drinking puppy formula because much of it was absorbed through her lungs.
The skipper spent several days Neel Veterinary Hospital, be treated for its various conditions. It turns out that even though everyone thought she would be fine, Skipper’s health was far too fragile.
Her hoomans did their best to raise money for her treatments and give her the warmest home she could ask for. They gave their all for this small but powerful dog.
Nearly eight months after his birth, Skipper closed his eyes for the last time. A combination of his diagnoses was too fatal for poor Skipper.
“We are so grateful to all of you who supported us through this ordeal and helped us give him the best life! She will forever remain in our hearts. » The skipper’s owners said that in the morning she crossed the rainbow bridge.
Skipper really showed everyone who didn’t believe in her how wrong they all were.
Yeah, she really showed them…
Rest in peace, dear Skipper. I know that you are finally running through green pastures and being accepted by all the other puppies like you should have been accepted all along.
