“Let us always meet with a smile, because a smile is the beginning of love.”
Even though his journey wasn’t as smooth and easy, Smile, the rescued puppy, inspired many people with his unbreakable spirit!
Born and raised in a hospice with 23 other dogs, this little girl spent years not knowing what true love looks like. But that was all about to change – all thanks to her beautiful ear-to-ear smile!
Smile had a difficult life before being rescued
The smile was living in a hoarding house overloaded with other dogs. The situation got out of hand because the dogs she owned began to breed illnesses, and that’s when the At-Choo Foundationof Toluca Lake, California, stepped in!
They saved every one of them, but unfortunately many dogs had already sarcoptic mange and some of them were pregnant. Fortunately, Smile’s condition has improved a little because her scabies had not fully spread.
However, the poor puppy was still in so much pain, and on top of all that… she was pregnant.
No Dog Left Behindfrom Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, heard her story and immediately fell in love. They decided to bring Smile to their rescue, despite all the distance that separated them.
“She smiles at him freely, but we hope to show Smile that humans are good enough to actually deserve her love.” wrote the NDLB team on Facebook.
Make quarantine days easier with your smile
Once she arrived in Minnesota, Smile was extremely small and did not appear pregnant at all. It turned out that this poor girl was facing major neglect and distressand even though she was only two weeks old before giving birth, she lost all of her litter.
But even then – Smile displayed an endless amount of resilience and strength. She has been such a brave girl throughout her journey and did not hesitate to be quarantined due to her condition.
Her smile helped her get through it and, according to NDLB Director Stephanie Easley, she taught everyone to smile with her!

Receiving tons of love from your adoptive mom
Easley couldn’t help but raise this little girl herself.. She took her home temporarily and did everything in her power to make Smile feel at home.
They did everything together with a huge smile on their faces! They woke up with a smile, played with a smile, and even went to bed with a smile.
Despite her medication and regular medicated baths, she was incredibly confident and calm. It was as if she had understood from the beginning that she would never have to face any difficulties again!
The news everyone was waiting for
Needless to say, applications are pouring in, but Smile must wait until the end of his treatment to go to a permanent home. And, rather early – the Pawfect family showed up to take her where she always belonged!
“Smile has joined a wonderful family and we are confident she will live her best life with them,” » wrote the NDLB team.
Today, she is a happy girl who is enjoying her life a lot, and she has never been happier!
