Macaroni, a one-year-old Pug mix, faced this fate when her family took her to a shelter in Los Angeles, California, and left her there. Her whole life turned upside down when she realized she was saying her final goodbyes to her loved ones.
The video of Macaroni’s surrender quickly went viral, breaking the hearts of thousands across the country who prayed that the little girl would find shelter in a loving new home.
Heartbreaking goodbye
The volunteers of The HIT Living Foundation, based in Los Angeles, California, saw little Macaroni held in the arms of her family. To be scared and shocked to the bone, she couldn’t help but tremble in fear of the unknown.
Foundation staff were already on scene to rescue another dog and her puppies, but when they realized what was going to happen, they immediately rushed into action.
They wasted no time asking if they could bring some Macaroni, as this adorable Pug mix definitely wouldn’t do well in a small shelter cage. In the process, they discovered that The macaroni was returned to the shelter due to the owners’ daughter’s allergies..
Once the team took her in, Macaroni was still afraid of not knowing what would happen next.
His grief over losing a longtime family was everywhere. Volunteers couldn’t hold back their tears as the little girl embarked on another journey – filled with uncertainty and unfamiliar surroundings.

The light at the end of the tunnel
Given what she had experienced, Macaroni was extremely shy and reserved at first. She was unsure of strangers and other dogs until she realized that the new environment was friendly!
Thanks to the incredible host families of Macaroni, Angela and Natacha, Macaroni began to come out of his shell. She quickly became friends with them and their dogs and was extremely excited to have a comfortable place again.
“She can be shy at first, but once she has a few days to adjust to her new environment, she does very well. She gets along well with children, dogs and also cats. Angela wrote on Instagram.
Over the next few weeks, Mac was a whole new dog. She quickly formed wonderful bonds with her new friends and finally began to enjoy life to the fullest.
