My heart aches every time I remember how unforgiving some people can be towards loyal and precious dogs.
Gracie was an innocent puppy who deserved to live a life filled with joy, but unfortunately, heartless breeders stole her chance at happiness.
When Animal Control rescued her, the puppy was so terrified she couldn’t even look at humans. She was shaking uncontrollably.
After Grace was admitted to a shelter, she had difficulty adjusting to the noisy environment. All she wanted to do was hide in corners.
The shelter staff was heartbroken. They hoped Grace would learn to be a dog and realize how beautiful life could be.
Helping Grace heal her heart
Staff members were thrilled when a family decided to adopt the puppy.
Grace has moved into her new house. However, the dog was unable to get rid of her fears and spent all her time curled up in her cage.
Her family decided to return her to the shelter.
Grace was even more scared when she found herself in the shelter’s noisy kennel again.
Fortunately, Love Transport Rescue Joba foster rescue that rescues dogs from shelters in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina, heard about Grace and they took her in.
The rescuers felt deeply saddened when they first met Grace. The dog had a depressed expression on her face and she kept her head down.
Every time her rescuers approached her, she was so scared that she peed on herself.
The puppy avoided any contact with emergency services. She was hiding under chairs and trying to find a safe place.
The staff wanted to shower Grace with affection and heal her broken heart, but they realized they had to give her time.
Learn to be a dog
Grace moved around a few foster homes until she found a foster family who understood her completely.
Grace’s foster families gave her time to decompress. They were hopeful that they would succeed in gaining his trust.
Since Grace was not used to human love, she wanted to appear as small as possible to hide from everyone.
Little by little, the dog’s foster family began to spend more time with Grace and give her the affection she had never known in her life.
Grace realized that her host family wanted to help her and she began to trust them.
His parents were delighted when they noticed that the dog was doing better and making steady progress.
“She now whines when she has to go to the bathroom or when she wants to go outside and watch other dogs play… Her posture is no longer that of that scared dog 24/7, she is now relaxed and seems content “, Labor of Love Transport Rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
Have hope for your future
The dog loved watching other dogs playing. However, she still wasn’t ready to join them.
Grace was no longer afraid of humans and she began to appreciate their presence. Her parents felt delighted when they petted Grace for the first time.
The dog’s fosters and rescuers hoped the dog would continue to heal and learn to enjoy his life.
Later, Grace began to act more like a dog. She loved long hikes with her host families. The dog was wagging his tail and she couldn’t help but smile as she admired the beauty around her.
Grace’s rescuers are aware that Grace still has to overcome her fears, but they are extremely proud of her and the progress she has made so far.
I hope Grace’s heart heals completely and she finds the happiness and love she deserves.
