Unfortunately, more and more puppies around the world are being abandoned on the streets by irresponsible owners without thinking twice.
Not only is this situation completely inhumane, it also compounds the problems facing animal shelters, such as overpopulation and limited resources.
This little puppy, just two weeks old, was abandoned on a busy street by someone who clearly didn’t want him anymore.
Luckily, someone spotted the little puppy crying and decided to call an animal shelter for help.
Saved just in time
When rescuers arrived, they found the smallest puppy who had just opened his eyes, I have difficulty making my way through the busy street.
The poor baby was disoriented, confused and very scared. He was just teetering next to the road and it was a miracle a car didn’t run him over.
Since he was so young, he was unable to eat on his own, so he kept crying for his mother.
If the rescuers had not intervened, he probably would not have survived very long.
So the puppy was rescued and taken to a safe, warm place, but it was only then that they learned the situation was much worse than they initially thought.
He constantly had strange seizures, which almost seemed like epilepsy. It was so heartbreaking to see him suffer like that.
The baby continued to cry non-stop, did not want to eat anything and had almost no swallowing reflexes.
Everyone began to fear for his life, so they rushed him to the veterinary clinic. In addition to weighing only about 20 ounces, the baby had a high fever.
The Path to Healing
It was difficult for vets to properly examine the baby due to his small size, but they did everything in their power to help the precious puppy.
He stayed at the veterinary clinic for five whole days until his condition is finally stabilized and he can be released.
Although they were unable to diagnose any illness, the seizures fortunately stopped and did not recur.
Once out of the clinic, the little baby – now named Blueberry – went to a temporary foster family.
His foster parents gave him the best care possible and he really thrived. Blueberry even had a furry friend to play with who was very gentle with his little foster friend.
After just a few days in the foster home, Blueberry’s health improved a lot. He was no longer a crying little baby, but a happy and playful bundle of joy.
He will stay in foster care for a little longer and when he is old enough he will hopefully go to his forever home.
After everything Blueberry has been through in his short life, he deserves nothing but joy and happiness from now on.
