Sometimes you just need to be in the right place at the right time – and your whole life can change!
That’s exactly what happened to Penny Lane: an adorable abandoned dog wandering the streets without a plan. She was completely malnourished and in dire need of shelter when a kind passerby spotted her and immediately called for help.
The team of Lola’s lucky daya rescue organization in Houston, Texas immediately jumped into action to save this little girl who was keeping a big secret at the time!
Penny Lane masters a new role in life
The good people at Lola’s Lucky Day brought Penny Lane to their establishment, and soon enough, they learned: she was carrying a stretcher!
“Penny was found wandering, wandering and pregnant. An appeal was made for help. Our volunteer drove away to get her to safety and took her to the vet for x-rays. She was due any day now.” the rescue wrote on Facebook.
The team did everything they could to help this pregnant mother recover. Due to her long stay on the streets, she was extremely emaciated and did not eat properly, causing her to lose her strength.
Although it looked like Penny would give birth naturally, the night she went into labor she experienced some complications.
Her caregivers took her to Pearland Animal Emergency Clinic 288, where she was examined. As it appeared, Penny needed a C-section to give birth safely, as she was still malnourished..
“Her wonderful veterinarian and the staff at Pearland 288 Animal Emergency Clinic decided she needed a C-section for her and the puppies to survive,” »wrote the LLD team.
The operation went extremely well and only a few hours later… This Stray Mom Was Finally Awake… Only This Time, With Her Beautiful Fur Babies! Penny Lane became a wonderful mother from the start, and she looked so at peace next to her litter.
She nevertheless had to stay a little longer in the hospital to be monitored and receive fluid therapy after her cesarean section.
A brand new start
Penny Lane and her puppies were returned safely to the facility, where the team took further care of them. With each new day, this dog family makes small progress and we were one step closer to an eternal home.
Penny’s puppies were growing fast, at the same pace as their mother, who seemed so much better. Compared to how she felt the day she was admitted, Penny Lane was a whole new dog – and she was thriving!
Once fully recovered, she and her puppies were transferred to Paddy’s pawsa rescue in Wisconsin, where they received the most astonishing news!
Penny Lane was adopted into a beautiful homesurrounded by people who showered her with love and made sure she never felt abandoned again.
His three puppies, Sgt. Pepper, Prudence and Ringo stayed at the rescue a little longer, but Finally, they also found their forever family. These three adorable balls of fur have become happy dogs who love everything about their new lives.
Once a pregnant, abandoned dog who was absolutely terrified of life on the streets, Penny Lane and her babies are now living their best life!
