When a dedicated first responder named Caryn logged onto her Facebook, she came across the most heartbreaking post ever.
It involved a group of dogs locked in a nearby abandoned property.
Since working as a first aid worker for the Humane Society of Mason County (HSMC), Caryn knew she had to do something to help. After realizing that the authorities were not arriving in time, the woman decided to take matters into her own hands and visit the property herself.
Not on my watch
When she arrived there and saw with her own eyes the situation these poor puppies were in, she couldn’t help but shed a tear.
“[They] were found abandoned, living in squalid conditions,” the Humane Society of Mason County (HSMC) wrote in a video about said puppies.
The puppies lived in a dilapidated, muddy backyard filled with trash and dangerous objects. In total there were six dogs, including an adorable duo – Hank and Scooby.
After authorities arrived, they were able to grant Caryn permission to arrange for the puppies to be removed. Fortunately, she was immediately able to find a safe place for the puppies to go. A puppy went to People for Animal Care and Kindness. The others were taken care of by HSMC.
In a trice, Mason County Society Found Loving Foster Family for a puppy named Brutus. The others, including Scooby and Hank, Tucker and Ringo, were taken in by a loving foster mother named Donna.
Patience is the key
Over time, Tucker and Ringo were able to find a permanent home. Unfortunately, Scooby and Hank weren’t so lucky. Due to their traumatic experience, they were extremely nervous and unable to make friends with the hoomans.
“Both boys were incredibly shy around new people, situations and loud noises. [B]but they thrived with other dogs, who helped give them confidence. an HSMC representative told The Dodo.
But determined rescuers refused to give up hope. They knew that when the time was right, the right person would arrive and take these sweet boys to their perfect homes. And they were right! A few months later, Scooby was adopted.
“After 182 days with HSMC, Scooby has finally found his forever family! He loves his canine brother and his new parents will give him all the time he needs to feel safe and comfortable in his new home. said the representative.
NOW, the only puppy left was Hank. Given the incredible progress he’s made since his rescue so far, everyone at the rescue knows that the forever home of his dreams is just around the corner!
“Hank has made incredible progress in his foster care, gaining confidence every day. He is incredibly polite when playing with his older canine sister, who has severe arthritis, and he loves running around the yard with his younger playmates.” said the representative.
If you would like to adopt Hank, do not hesitate to visit the Humane Society of Mason County website for adoption information. Good luck, Hank!
