Every day we can hear warnings from various organizations about how animals are becoming more and more endangered and how shelters are becoming more and more full. Despite this, many cold-hearted people continue to harm their pets, and abandonment is one of the most heartbreaking.
Unfortunately, this can always be taken to another level, and the best proof of this is people who breed dogs for profit. As their priority is money and not the love that these beings carry in their hearts, the outcome can often be tragic.
That was also the case this time when a group of rescuers found three shivering puppies outside the Paterson shelter. Their story is a lesson for us all.
Poor little lives
On March 22, 2024, Ramapo-Bergen Animal Shelter (RBARI), a relief organization located in Oakland, New Jersey, announced a dramatic headline in its Facebook post.
“!! Urgent rescue in progress ‼️ Sick puppies abandoned outside Paterson shelter! » they wrote.
According to them, the cubs were in a very bad condition – cold, sick and malnourished.
They thought the puppies were “a sort of micro-breed of Boston terrier.” Other than that, They were about eight weeks old and all males.
Their mother was nowhere to be seen and rescuers had no information about her or the other puppies.
However, these brave people did not want to wait any longer and immediately rushed to the hospital to provide much-needed help to these poor babies.
Glimpse of hope
Later that day, after finding the puppies and bringing them to the hospital, a rescue organization in Oakland, Wisconsin, wrote another Facebook post about their situation. Fortunately, the news has been mostly positive.
“The three tiny micro-Boston puppies abandoned outside in the cold are now stable and receiving the medical care that had been so neglected. » they wrote.
In this honor, they named them Alvin, Simon and Theodore. All three were malnourished and had belly fat. In addition to this, they also suffered from upper respiratory disease.
After this knowledge, everything was finally clear to these people. They were now sure that the puppies were the product of micro-breeding carried out by people hungry for profit, but also that their illness “helped” them end up on the street.
“In the world of backyard breeding, you can’t sell a sick dog. » they wrote.
However, this motivated them even more to help the puppies and give them a better future. They gave them the necessary medicines and care, as well as the best quality food, so they were already feeling much better.
Soon the puppies were released. to outpatient care in a medical foster home, where they had a better chance of remaining healthy. Along with all the necessities, they also received a lot of love, which also helped them in their recovery.
“Alvin, Simon and Theodore are finally considered valuable lives instead of discarded merchandise” RBARI wrote.
A revealing tragedy
Their rescuers knew the puppies would face a difficult recovery period due to their health issues. Luckily, with the help of all the good people taking care of them, everything turned out pretty well and everyone was full of hope that there would be a happy ending.
“All three puppies are spunky, running around, wrestling and playing hide and seek one minute, then snuggling and giving love the next.” RBARI wrote in his new Facebook post.
However, just when they thought everything was okay and all three puppies were fine, the saddest moment has arrived.
“Yesterday, Alvin, one of three puppies we recently rescued, passed away.” RBARI wrote in his last Facebook post from April 1, 2024.
They wrote that Alvin came to them with “a serious cleft palatesuffer from congenital hydrocephalus as well as other defects affecting his neurological function. All this was the consequence of poor breeding, which was then the cause of his downfall.
Even though it was difficult for them to go through all of this, the people who cared for Alvin and the other puppies had to share his story. They didn’t do it so they could cry easier or lose their morale, but to save future Alvins and all the other puppies that someone decided to give such a fate to.
After reading this story, it is up to all of us to take a look into our hearts and decide whether it is more important to have a few extra dollars in our pocket or a heart filled with joy because a little life continues to live.
