She lay there for days, begging for help.
Yet she was abandoned so far away that no one could hear her helpless cries. Sammi, a few months old dog, was cruelly dumped in an abandoned reservoir, miles from her original home.
That day, she didn’t just lose her home. She lost much more than that: her smile, her enthusiasm for puppies, and most importantly, her faith in humans.
It’s safe to say that Sammi was almost on the verge of giving up on everything until some kind people finally showed her that not all humans are the same.
She was screaming for help
Thanks to a a local resident who heard his shrill criesSammi was noticed for the first time in what seemed like forever!
He immediately contacted the Sidewalk Specials The team had already rescued a dog from this same reservoir a few months earlier. When they got the call, they couldn’t believe someone would do the same thing again.
When they finally arrived, they saw Sammi all terrified and motionless. She was lying on a pile of garbage and was literally freezing.She looked like she had given up on everything after being unable to escape from that deep, prison-like hole.
“She was like frozen. There was nothing to eat there. There was no water there and it was scorching hot.” Rachael said The Dodo.
Rachael and her colleague immediately intervened to save this poor girl. As soon as she found herself in her rescuer’s arms, Sammi felt better.It was as if she just knew that from that moment on, everything would be different.
And, man, was she right!
A few weeks later, the most amazing news arrived at Sidewalk Specials regarding Sammi!
Sammi now has a whole new life
A wonderful family came to the rescue with one goal in mind: to give Sammi a forever home. The woman, Anneliza and her family fell in love with this resilient girl from the startand they just knew they had to meet her.

“Sammi doesn’t have a single mean streak in her. She’s just a great, great dog. I would never trade her.” Anneliza said for The Dodo.
She has integrated incredibly into her new surroundings and even had a sibling, a dog named Ash.
Even though the two have completely different personalities, Sammi and Ash are the best of friends in the world.
“Ash is very different. Their personalities are completely different, which is great to have yin and yang dogs in our family. They were just best friends from the beginning.” said Anneliza.
Once an abandoned girl struggling to survive, Sammi is now the happiest girl in the world!
