One moment you’re faced with the endless sleep list, and the next moment you’re watching the spotlight shine on you.
This is how Max, the rescued senior, could sum up his life.
Faced with his horrible fate, Max never thought he could be saved, much less become a superstar in his local theater.
But things turn around when you least expect them.
Not only was Max saved, he was given the chance to live a life he could only dream of.
And this is how his dreams came true…
A Yorkie Jack Russell with big dreams
There were only a few days left between Max and the chamber of eternal sleep. He thought his days on Earth were over, and truth be told, there weren’t many good ones.
The Yorkie Jack Russell mix was 12 years old At the time of his rescue, Max had spent too much time in the shelter, being rejected by potential owners and wondering if his time would ever come. He never could have imagined that someone like Lauren and Foster would adopt him.
Max came to the young couple after Foster’s father and stepmother adopted him from the Colorado shelter where he was living.
Max proved to be a real pain for Foser’s mother-in-law, who previously only had Shih Tzus. big dog energy It just didn’t suit them, so he moved in with Lauren and Foster and settled in Virginia.
Life was finally sweet and Max found himself with people who understood him best.
But things started to get awesome. Max had no idea what was in store for him.
On one occasion, while walking leisurely down the street with Lauren, Max was spotted by Katy Brown, a theatre worker, talent scout and production artistic director. Katy is with Barter Theatre in Abingdon, and she saw Max as her next superstar!
The Troc Theater has been around for over 90 years and is still an adaptation of the popular The Wizard of Oz. Max was the spitting image of Toto, and Katy HAD to give him that role.
Max’s life changed once again and showed him the bright lights of the theater and paved the way for him to success.
Is he Max or Toto?
The theater team loved Max. The 12-year-old senior citizen, saved from drowning, made them fall in love with him. Max was a real entertainer, doing all sorts of tricks, some even on request.
It was clear to everyone that this chance encounter had found them their ideal Toto.
All that remained was to prepare Max for the role and start acting. As agreed, the theater will produce and perform 56 shows with Max as Toto.
The days were going to get busy for Max. Luckily, he didn’t mind, and the secret to his successful adaptation was… sweets!
“He loves to please people and treats certainly don’t hurt him either,” Smith said for News week. “It’s really funny because I’ve been to a few shows and he looks out at the audience and notices it,” Smith said. “He doesn’t mind and he loves the other actors on stage with him.”
Critics of the new The Wizard of Oz are exceptional. People from all over the region come to see the new cast and Max as the perfect canine superstar. They all agree on one thing: Max was born to be a star!
Although he was discovered late in his old age, Max still has a brilliant career ahead of him.
Next stop? Hollywood!
