An adorable dog was hoping to be reunited with her forever family after an animal welfare team rescued her from a dangerous living environment.
The canine, later named Duchess, was brought to Pennsylvania SPCA Danville Center.
She was in a terrible state. The puppy was skinny and his shiny brown fur was covered in dirt.
Waiting for someone to notice her
The shelter staff welcomed her and provided her with the care she needed.
Little by little, the puppy began to recover and reveal his adorable personality, captivating the hearts of the employees.
They were sure that she would soon find a loving family and the happiness that her heart desired.
After the Duchess made a full recovery, she grew into a happy and beautiful puppy. She was ready to start a new chapter in her life.
Every day, the dog waited by the kennel door for adopters to notice her and pick her out of the crowd. She looked at their faces, trying to catch their gaze and get their attention.
Unfortunately, the visitors passed by her, not realizing how wonderful the Duchess was. No one was interested in knowing her.
The shelter staff was heartbroken. They couldn’t bear to see the Duchess being disappointed day after day.
“It was heartbreaking to see her go by for so long,” a representative from the Pennsylvania SPCA said The Dodo.
Love at first sight
After waiting almost a year, fortune finally smiled on the Duchess.
A large family saw her photo on social media and immediately fell in love with her. They arrived at the special adoption event that the sweet pooch attended in order to meet her.
The moment they saw the Duchess in person, they were struck by his smile and his loving character.
The family formed an instant bond with the dog and they knew she belonged to them.
The Duchess’ new family has already adopted a dog named Bear from the PSPCA Danville.
Ride into the sunset with your family
When the Duchess realized she had finally been chosen, she felt ecstatic. The dog had the biggest smile on his adorable face.
Bear came with his family to pick up his new sister from the shelter.
The Duchess said goodbye to her friends at the shelter, who showered her with love.
They were emotional seeing their daughter leave the Danville shelter with her new family. They would miss her a lot, but they were happy for her.
