Plum’s heart craved human love, but what she received in return was abuse and abandonment.

Her heartless owners robbed her of the chance at a loving home. They kept her in a puppy mill where Plum gave birth to many litters of puppies.

When they no longer found her useful, her breeders abandoned her in an overcrowded shelter in Riverside, California.

Plum, her eyes watering, felt terrified and withdrawn.

She needed someone who would believe in her and give her a second chance at life.

Plum’s Rescue Jump

Sadly, after spending three weeks in a noisy shelter, Plum was placed on a euthanasia list.

The puppy had given up on her dreams. Her beautiful eyes held no glimmer of hope. It seemed she had accepted her sad fate.

The people with the giant heart behind Saving the Riverside Shelter Dogsa networking page that helps rescue red-listed dogs in Riverside, California, heard about Plum and came to visit.

They recorded a heartbreaking film video of the puppy and posted it on social media.

People who saw Plum in tears and with tears in her eyes were heartbroken. Everyone wished the dog would be saved.

Fortunately, Amber Arpin and Imagine Peace for Puppy Rescue came to Plum’s aid. The kind humans took her out of the shelter and found her a local foster family named Lea Candelo.

Candelo welcomed Plum into her home and gave her his love. Plum breathed a sigh of relief. She felt relieved and safe in her foster mother’s arms.

After spending a week with her temporary host family, Plum arrived in Portland, Oregon.

Meeting his rescuers

Arpin and the rescuers at Imagine Peace for Pups were thrilled to welcome him into his new life.

Zeb Walter, Plum’s adoptive father, came to pick her up and bring her home.

Despite her poor condition, Plum was gentle and confident. The dog felt that his life was about to change.

As soon as she got off the bus, Plum greeted her father and rescuers with kisses.

“Today she came off the bus with her pretty face and we almost lost her – she was so small, so skinny, her eye so piercing, her scars and her back legs stiff. But she approached with open body language, gave kisses and wagged her tail and was totally trusting,” Imagine Peace for Pups wrote in a Facebook post.

Plum’s rescuers cuddled her and gave her her first puppaccino. The dog’s eyes sparkled with happiness.

A new life filled with love

She said goodbye to her heroes and moved into her new home.

Her father and her four-legged little sister, Miley, showered her with love.

Plum felt loved like never before and she began to settle in.

A week later, Plum went to the vet. They removed a small lump on her eyelid and a large lump on her back leg. It was later confirmed that these lumps were cancerous.

Fortunately, Plum managed to beat cancer.

“Miley and Plum did great at their vet appointment today. Both are healthy and in good shape. Plum is also cancer free.” Walter wrote about Facebook.

Plum sometimes posts updates about his daily activities on his Instagram accountShe loves hiking and going to the park with her dad and Miley.

The lovely dog is living her best life. Plum is soaking up all the love her dad gives her.
