Although they often bring us a lot of joy, our four-legged friends can also sometimes make us very sad. But most often, it is not their fault but that of those who should do everything to help them and ensure a better future.
A good man from Gary, Indiana has always tried to provide his dog with everything he needs to live a happy life. That’s exactly what happened one day when he took him for a walk, giving him one of his favorite activities.
Everything was ideal until they came across some abandoned mattresses and noticed that something was moving on them. Then, this man came back to reality and realized that not all people are the same and not all dogs have the privilege of living a happy life.
Heartbreaking view
What broke this man’s heart as he approached was the sight of a litter of six abandoned puppies on a pile of abandoned mattresses. Although this man was both sad and angry, he didn’t have much time to despair but had to act quickly.
He soon pulls himself together and called Silverstray Social to help. People at this organization, which rescues animals and supports pet families, weren’t expecting the call because it was the Friday evening before Memorial Day.
However, despite everything, they didn’t wait a minute and immediately jumped into action when they heard what was happening. When one of their volunteers, Layce, arrived in Gary, Indiana, the puppies were already in a makeshift kennel, thanks to the man who found them.
As soon as this woman saw the little ones, she noticed that they were very emaciated. Layce was convinced they were about two months old, given their appearance. However, she was going to have a surprise after the exam.
“What everyone thought [were] Puppies aged 6 to 8 weeks ended up becoming puppies aged 6 months… This shows how malnourished they were,” Kelly Carey, founder of Silverstray Social, said The Dodo.
However, instead of discouraging them, this very fact motivated them even more to do everything to ensure a better future for the little puppies.
Hope for a happy life
Despite their age, for these people, the puppies were still babies for whom they were ready to do anything. That’s why Kelly immediately contacted some organizations that would potentially be willing to take care of them.
It didn’t take long for him to strike a deal with a local relief organization, Guardians of the Green Line. These people decided to welcome the six puppies with open arms. Before that happened, the puppies spent the night with a kind-hearted volunteer.
According to the Guardians of the Green Line Facebook postall puppies have been successfully examined by a veterinarian and they managed to find host families for them.
“Despite their appearance, they are all very nice and friendly puppies with good dispositions,” they wrote in the post.
Since the day the brave man found them, these puppies have been doing well and hope can finally be seen in their eyes. Even though they didn’t have the privilege of living a happy life at first, a lot has changed in the meantime.
All it took was a good soul to cry over their sad fate, and immediately the sun began to rise above their heads. Soon they will be able to enjoy a walk with their loving human, just like the happy dog at the beginning of this story.
