I just thought of something recently. Losing a dog can be a truly traumatic experience for anyone going through it.
This is something we all have to go through when we decide to adopt one. No matter how much you think you’ve prepared for the inevitable, it will still hurt like hell.
This has led to some people adopting a puppy just once and having a hard time doing it again. In Laurence’s case, he had experienced the same thing.
He wasn’t sure if he would adopt a dog again, but then he met a dog so special he knew he was meant to be.
Meet Arthur
When Laurence decided to adopt again, he went to his local shelter in Illinois and I noticed something strange.
There were all these dogs barking all the time, and then there was Arthur, who stood there and observed the whole situation.
It is at this precise moment that Laurence understood that this was the dog he needed. He was clearly very different from everyone there, and that was a good thing.
However, just as Arthur was being taken to his forever home for the first time, Laurence had an interesting thought.
He said Cuddly Buddies: “Personally, I had never raised a puppy and all that… it was definitely a bit of a roller coaster.»
Arthur was naturally a very playful puppy, which meant he loved running and exploring the beauties of Illinois.
Every time they played, Laurence laughed so much because Arthur was so hilarious.
Sometimes he would throw a Frisbee at him to catch him and Arthur would ignore him and act like nothing had happened.
Their incredible friendship
One thing he noticed was that Arthur really liked to bite others, which must have been his way of playing or showing affection.
One day, Laurence had caught him in the living room making a huge mess. He had completely destroyed a cushion.
Even though the two had completely different energy, they developed a beautiful friendship in no time.
Laurence said: “Of course, they say a person’s best friend is their dog and I didn’t understand why that was the case until now.»
The two friends are so adorable to see. They spend almost all their time together even when Laurence performs the most basic tasks.
At one point, he even noticed Arthur following him while he took out the trash, which is so sweet.
It’s always a great pleasure to see other people who have adopted dogs and realize how much they bring to our lives.
They truly are our best companions and nothing will ever change that. Laurence ends by saying: “It’s a relationship that I think I’ve been looking for my whole life and didn’t know about.»
