These are difficult times and many people are having to make difficult decisions. Unfortunately, some of these decisions have a negative impact on our beloved pets: dogs are increasingly left in shelters or abandoned on the streets.
Shelters everywhere are full of pets who have been abandoned or left behind. Part of this is the general uncertainty we’re experiencing, but one of the main reasons is people losing their jobs or fearing they will.
It’s really sad to think about it, but some people think they can’t take care of their pets more. This story that I am about to share with you perfectly illustrates this struggle.
An Orlando, Florida man was going through tough financial times and reached a point where he could no longer provide for his beloved pit bull, Lincoln.
I feel hopeless, he decided to tie Lincoln to his neighbor’s tree in the middle of the night.
Alongside this heartbreaking act, he left a note explaining his situation and begging the neighbor to take care of her baby:
“I’m going to California to be with my mom and brother during this pandemic. Please take care of Lincoln or find him a good home. I entrust you with my baby. I’m sorry.”
Unfortunately, the neighbor couldn’t keep Lincoln, but luckily a local rescue organization called The Pittie Party of Central Florida (TPPCF) came to the rescue.
A volunteer named Mayson Jones stepped in and brought Lincoln home, showering him with love and playtime. Despite his owner’s absence, Lincoln still had a wagging tail and a playful spirit.
Fortunately, this sad story has a happy part. A woman named Melanie Anderson took pity on Lincoln and decided to take care of him until he found a permanent home. He now loves going on boat rides and taking naps in the sun with his host family.
Unfortunately, Lincoln’s situation is not uncommon. Shelters are struggling, and many dogs are left behind or abandoned.
TPPCF, along with other rescuers, are asking for help. They are looking for foster families to take in homeless dogs in their hearts and homes.
The rescue organization provides everything the foster family needs to care for the dog, covering all costs. As they shared on Facebook:
“We could never do what we do without the dedication and commitment of host families. These individuals are the true rescue heroes! »
When you foster a dog, you not only provide a safe place for a deserving animal, but you also help shelters make room for more animals in need. Plus, you might end up falling in love and giving a dog a forever home!
