Rocky Kanaka is sitting with dogs. But this time, our beloved rescue dog was knocked down. When he saw the condition this Great Dane was in, Rocky was deeply shaken. Such a big dog and yet such a skinny dog.
Scooby was a walking disaster, all thanks to his previous owners. He was in and out of the shelter and was rejected by his family because the kids weren’t interested in feeding him. This left huge marks on Scooby, inside and out.
Could Scooby return in all his glory?
Will Rocky succeed once again and earn his trust?
Scooby Doo’s skin and bones look similar
Great Danes… such majestic dogs!
Among the 200 registered dog breeds known to mankind, Great Danes are giants, but in a good way.
They are big dogs with a sturdy build and an even bigger heart. At first glance, they may seem like dangerous dogs, given the size of their heads and paws, but that’s nothing to worry about.
Practice has shown that Great Danes are among the kindest breeds.
That’s exactly how Scooby is.
This poor Great Dane was thrown away and discarded by its former owners, all because the children did not want to feed him. I mean…you expect little kids to take on such a big responsibility? Come on…
When Scooby’s ex-mother abandoned him, she probably had other things in mind. You don’t just abandon a dog because someone doesn’t want to feed it. You take responsibility and you accept it.
This dog is a shelter returnee. He’s already been dropped off once at an overnight drop-off and taken home. Yet the next time his family turned to the shelter for help, they were moving from California to another country and couldn’t take Scoob with them.
There are no circumstances that justify Scooby’s appearance.
Scooby wasn’t supposed to look like that… a walking skeleton. No Great Dane is supposed to look like Scoob.
Rocky heard rumors about Scooby and apparently he was reported because his mother threatened her children with handing him over if they didn’t feed him. No one can say if these rumors are true, but it seems like they are.
On the other hand, feeding a Great Dane is a strenuous task and requires plenty of high-quality food. Maybe money was the problem. Maybe, just maybe, raising a Great Dane was a bigger task than they could chew.
Additionally, according to medical records, Scooby has numerous stomach problems.
Rocky doesn’t want to think too much about the past. The past stays in the past. The important thing to do now is help Scooby and put him on the right track.
Sitting with Scooby
Rocky has a very good approach to resocializing rescue dogs. In case you haven’t caught up, he sits with them and tries to make them feel relaxed, comfortable and wanted. But he’s not just jumping at the chance. Rocky has a strategy that works every time.
When he approached Scooby, the dog was already pretty relaxed, but that wasn’t a sign to move on. Rocky always takes things slowly, letting the dog sniff the newcomer and offering treats as a gesture of goodwill.
Being the good boy he is, Scooby immediately accepted Rocky and her treats, praise, and friction that quickly followed. This type of approach takes pressure off dogs and does not make them the center of attention, making them uncomfortable.
Scoob had plenty of time to adjust to Rocky’s presence.
“Oh, I’m sorry Scooby, no matter what you’ve been through, you don’t deserve it,” repeated Rocky in the video as he handed out hugs and treats to Scoob, “We will fill your belly and we will fill your heart.”
As Rocky performed the ultimate confidence test, the scoop, he could feel all the dog’s bones sticking out. Scooby’s spine and ribs were visible. Scooby was nothing like the usual Great Dane.
Rocky’s closer examination of Scoob showed that he is most likely a Great Dane mix, possibly a puppy with Mouth Cur or Ridgeback blood.
It was really a shame because behind that skin and bones He was a beautiful dog with such beautiful coloring. Scooby just needed a little love and affection to shine.
And Rocky made sure to have all of that and more.
Scooby’s bright future
Named after a beloved cartoon character, Scooby Doo, this Scoob has a bright future ahead of him.
Thanks to Rocky, this big dog will have sponsors who will give him food for an entire year. A big dog like Scooby needs to eat a lot and loves to munch on Scooby snacks.
In no time, Scooby transformed into a whole new dog. The positive change is more than evident. He is gaining weight quickly, but the best thing is that his health is constantly monitored and there appear to be no major concerns.
Always, the biggest change is at Scooby behavior. Unlike the previous time he met Rocky, Scooby was now wagging his tail like crazy. He was super happy to see a familiar face and super excited to tell everyone how great he is doing.
After only a short time at the shelter, under the attention and care of the shelter workers, Rocky, and a group of good people, Scoob was ready to be adopted.
At the time of the Rocky update video, Scooby was waiting to meet potential adopters. Let’s just hope this gentle, troubled soul finally gets the loving home he deserves, whether in California or elsewhere.
Let’s pray that Scooby finally gets his Shaggy.
