When City of Arlington, Texas Animal Services They received several calls from concerned citizens about a stray dog running around town, they knew they had to send a team to find him and bring him to the shelter.
The Pit Bull mix, who was later named Bitsy, was described as a happy, playful dog who loved to roam around the Texas neighborhood with no intention of stopping.
Luckily, after one of her walks, Bitsy ended up at the home of one of the concerned citizens, making it much easier for Officer Allex Pollard to locate her.
Meet Bitsy
The first time Agent Pollard met Bitsy, it was clear to her that she was in the presence of one of those puppies you remember forever.
“Officer Alex Pollard said that when she arrived at the address, Bitsy was lying on her back with her feet in the air as if she had just had the best day, but was exhausted from her pleasure.” A spokesperson for Arlington, Texas, animal services said: People.
The Texas shelter also said that when they get a stray dog, most of them are usually very scared and overwhelmed. However, This was not the case with Bitsy.
“Bitsy immediately made her presence felt. She is a happy, boisterous, energetic dog. She is very people-oriented and makes the funniest dinosaur noises when she wants more attention from you.” the shelter said.
This sweet girl loves spending time with humans and meeting new friends. She is full of positive energy and whenever she is happy she moves her whole body.
But one of Bitsy’s main attractions is her smile!
“Bitsy’s smile was noticed instantly! She is literally always happy, especially when she sees or is with people!” said the shelter spokesperson.
Looking for a house
After her mandatory 72-hour hold ended and no humans came forward to report her missing, the Texas shelter began preparing her for adoption.
However, the staff labeled her as an adoptable VIP pet because they suspected she might be hard of hearing or even deaf because of observations they made while caring for her.
“When animals become VIPs at Arlington Animal Services, we reduce their adoption fees and promote them in hopes that they quickly find their forever homes.” explained the spokesperson.
Five days later, The shelter decided to place Bitsy in their “adoption center,” which was located at the front of the shelter and had a limited number of kennels.
From there, Bitsy was able to meet potential pet parents visiting the shelter and wow them with her incredible smile.
The spokesperson said that within seconds of moving into the adoption center, Bitsy lifted her head and looked out the window, flashing her sweet smile for everyone to see.
“She was so happy! Honestly, it didn’t surprise us, but it was like she knew this was her chance to have a family! She loves looking out the window and seeing the staff or visitors in the shelter and is even happier than before.” shared the shelter spokesperson.
Unfortunately, even with her infectious smile and the fact that she has become a minor celebrity on FacebookBitsy failed to generate interest for adoption.
Animal services in Arlington, Texas, said that This sweet girl would be best with a responsible family who would love an energetic and fun four-legged companion that would turn every boring day into an incredible adventure.
“Bitsy wants and needs love, time and attention. Someone is willing to accept the possibility that she is deaf. She is an intelligent dog who loves to please people,” said the shelter.
Last word
I am sure that with time this sweet girl will find a loving forever home with a family who will make sure that her sweet smile is always on her adorable face.
“We are confident that a new family will come along for Bitsy, but we hope this will raise awareness for the homeless dogs waiting in windows everywhere and that someone will consider opening their heart and home to a shelter dog in need.” concluded the spokesperson.
