You should never underestimate the transformative power of love.
When Stella was first found on the streets of Atlanta, Georgia, she was a lost cause. Due to her disturbing past, this pretty gray and white dog was extremely traumatized.
She lost all faith in humanity and barked the most heartbreakingly whenever someone tried to approach her. Then, with the right person and countless attempts to help her, Stella embarked on a life-changing journey.
This is his story!
Stella’s heartbreaking past
A neighbor spotted Stella wandering the streets of Atlanta after being cruelly dumped by its owner. She was used for breeding for many years, then abandoned when her owner could no longer “use” her.
Animal control picked up this wayward girl, who was eventually ready to be euthanized. With many scars on her soul, Stella could not socialize properly or enter a new home.
So, the good people of LifeLine Animal Projectfrom Atlanta, Georgia, stepped in!
They took Stella back and gave her a chance to start a new life. Despite her heartbreaking past, the volunteers did not abandon her. With the help of their partners, Fly with Me Animal Rescue, they managed to guarantee shelter for Stella until she is finally ready to enter a loving home.
Then, the miracle in the shape of Hooman arrived!
Krista Keough saw this adorable girl’s photo on the rescue’s Instagram just in the morning after having the most unusual dream.
“She came into my life because I dreamed one night that I was running on the beach with my sister and her dog, and I looked down to see a gray and white dog; » Kirsta said Animals GeoBeats.
She immediately knew she had to meet Stella, because it was destiny that brought them together!
During their very first meeting, Stella and Krista immediately fell in love with each other. She knelt down in front of her, and for some reason Stella put her head in Krista’s arms, as if trying to say: “You’re my man now!”
The two returned home and started a new life together.
Healing journey
For the first few weeks, Krista decided to put Stella and her other dog, Apollo, on hold. She made sure to make Stella as comfortable as possible, as this paramedic was still quite traumatized.
She had the most heartbreaking barks every time she went outside or saw “potential danger” approaching her. She acted like a guard dog around Stella when she was really trying to escape the horrible past that haunted her all the time.
Then, with a little love and so many attempts to accommodate her, Stella’s behavior began to change!
She warmed up to Apollo to the point where they became best friends. The two men grew accustomed to each other’s company and soon became inseparable.
Beneath his broken soul there was a positive and enthusiastic girl eager to play and zoom endlessly in the court. However, her occasional outbursts would be visible and Stella would have great difficulty adjusting to the new circumstances.
“I felt like maybe I had taken too much. And I thought about her story from the time she was in her old family home, to the street, to the shelter on a bus to me, and I thought if she could get through this, then I I could definitely make changes in my life to welcome her and give her the things she needs,” Krista said.
Stella’s healing journey inspired her mother to write a book titled “Dear Diary, it’s me, Stella” about moments of despair and Stella’s heartbreaking journey through life.
With this book, Krista tried to raise awareness about rescue dogs and their unbreakable spirit, even after the horrible events they go through.
Today, Stella is living the best life with her family, and although she can still face the past at times, her mother’s endless love is what makes her thrive. She never feels alone or abandoned again, and her mom’s lap is now the safest place for her.
And isn’t that what every dog in this world should have?
