Thanks to people with giant hearts who spare no time or resources, thousands of animals in need are saved.

This time it was the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston who highlighted their human side! The team was carrying out their regular inspections at the Port of Houston, Texas, when they heard a strange noise coming from one of the containers.

They immediately rushed to identify the sound and made what turned out to be one of the most incredible discoveries!

An unexpected discovery

Agent Ryan McMahon and his team heard noise that sounded like barking and scratching coming from one of the containers stacked about 25 feet in the air.

The team was in the right place at the right time, as the terminal currently had more than 10,000 containers. After using the crane to bring the container to the ground, an unexpected creature came out from inside.

He was a scared little dog. who somehow ended up in this metal enclosure.

“Earlier today, a team of marine inspectors from the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston saved a life in an unexpected way,” The U.S. Coast Guard Heartland wrote in a Facebook post.

“They heard barking and scratching coming from one of the stacked containers. When they lowered the container and opened the door, a dog came out. » the team wrote.

The dog seemed extremely happy and not at all scared when she finally emerged from the darkness. She rushed to her rescuers and melted into their arms as if she was trying to thank them for this heroic mission.

According to authorities, the poor dog was stuck inside the container with abandoned cars. for more than a week without food or water. Although it’s still unclear how she ended up here, the Coast Guard assumes she was in one of the cars.

It was a real miracle that she had been spotted after so long, because she probably wouldn’t have made it if she had stayed there a few more days.

Connie the container dog

Connie the container dogas she would later be called, was immediately taken to the local animal shelter, from where she was transferred to Animal Rescue Changed Forever.

Despite her initial happiness, Connie was extremely emaciated and weighed only 30 pounds. Once she arrived at the shelter, she was immediately subjected to several tests. Unfortunately, she tested positive for heartworm.

“Connie is a little skinny and currently weighs 30 pounds. She is incredibly sweet but very shy and scared of her new surroundings, as you would expect. She is heartworm positive and we are going to start her on treatment as soon as possible. FCAR wrote on Facebook.

The team will make sure to treat Connie well and help her get back on her feet as quickly as possible.

Thanks to the joint forces of people with giant hearts, she now has a second chance at life. And, when the time comes, there is no doubt that Connie, the Container dog, will go to a beautiful home.
