When I first discovered Keller’s story, it broke my heart.
How could such a kind and loving boy end up without a loving family? How could he end up alone?
With these questions in mind, I realized that no matter how good a companion you are, there are some things you can’t fight alone. Through no fault of his own, Keller found himself in a shelter, begging anyone who passed by to give him a chance.
The good news is that he never, not once, lost hope that someone nice would eventually notice him!
A lovely boy looking for a home
To this day, rescuers aren’t entirely sure about Keller’s past. Before he ended up in PupStarz Rescuebased in New York, he was in another shelter.
Tennessee Rescue Partners transferred him to Puerto Rico, where his new chapter in life began.
“This adorable senior puppy is looking for a forever home where he can live out his golden years in comfort and love,” PR wrote in a Facebook post.
As soon as he entered his new temporary home, Keller was just a sweetheartHis cheerful and friendly personality made everyone fall in love with him instantly, and in no time, Keller became the rescue’s favorite.
He quickly found a foster home with a woman named Kristen, and he couldn’t be happier.
“His loving nature and gentle spirit make him an instant favorite with everyone he meets. Although he appears deaf, Keller doesn’t let that slow him down in the slightest. He’s a resilient little guy who continues to spread joy wherever he goes,” the rescue wrote.
Considering his advanced age, it was truly incredible to see Keller blossom. He never let his age affect his behavioreven when he had dental work on top of his hearing loss that caused him to lose all his teeth.
As if it were possible, being a toothless senior at the age of 10 only made him more adorable!
“His tongue now hangs adorably out of his mouth most of the time, giving him the cutest and most endearing expression,” the rescue added.
I wish you happy golden years, Keller
Keller has spent months spreading nothing but joy. He is an absolute sweetheart who loves walks and long cuddle sessions with his foster mother.
And when he’s not busy showering humans with endless kisses and cuddles, Keller enjoys playing with his canine friends. Despite his size, he doesn’t hesitate to make friends with canines that are bigger than him!
It’s safe to say that Keller has it all and would be a wonderful addition to any family willing to take him in. Luckily, he didn’t have to wait too long!
Last month, Keller was blessed with two giant hearted humans who knocked on the shelter door, looking to adopt him.
Realizing he was finally going to find a forever home, Keller couldn’t hide his joy. He was over the moon to have a family willing to love and appreciate him for who he was.
After all this searching, Keller is finally where he was meant to be: in a loving home, ready to live out his golden years!
