It always breaks our hearts to see a helpless person who has to fend for himself on the street to survive. Unfortunately, this is something we encounter every day.

It was the same this time, when good people started sharing posts on the Internet about a German Shepherd who hadn’t moved from one spot in Montebello, California, for several days.

It was a truly heartbreaking sight and it was only a matter of time before someone stepped in to help.

Rescue from poverty

As soon as Isabel Gallardo, an experienced lifeguard from Marinwood, California, heard about the German Shepherd abandoned under the tree on the streets of Montebello, she rushed to that place. However, things didn’t go so well when she got there.

“When I arrived, an AC agent had just pulled up and I told him I was there for him. We tried for several hours to catch him, she called for reinforcements but this boy said “not today ladies”. Isabel wrote in her Facebook post.

Fortunately, Isabel knew many rescuers that she was friends with, and they were happy to answer her call. The most important character at that time was a well-known rescuer, Suzette Hall, who brought a trap with which they finally managed to catch this dog.

Monte, as the dog was called, was saved from poverty and these good souls were the most responsible for this good deed. Of course, Isabel did not forget to mention the other kind-hearted people who participated in this rescue operation.

She thanked “Laurie Mitchel for so many things [she] I can’t list, [her] an invaluable experience of friendship and rescue”, as well as “Laura [Bobadilla] to be the eyes of Montebello.

At the end, it was Isabel who decided to take Monte home and continue to take care of him.

“A brand new dog”

Just days after the rescue, Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacyshared happy news via his Facebook profile.

“Before and after” she wrote in it Facebook post. “This is how it should be, in a house and in a bed. Not thrown under a tree”

She wrote that Monte has been through a lot and they are “fixing” all the problems, but that they are going in the right direction.

Suzette said Monte was at Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California and they diagnosed him with anemia. Right after that “he received a medicated bath, flea treatment, dewormer, blood tests, an injection of an anti-inflammatory plus cytopoint and antibiotics.”

“After a few good weeks without fleas and with a good diet, we are going to have him spayed and have dental work done,” she wrote. “This sweet baby will be a brand new dog.”

As you can see, Monte is on the right track and his future is brightall thanks to the good souls who saved him from poverty and gave him a new chance in life.

“We love you so much, my darling” Suzette wrote at the end. “We will not abandon you like they did.”
