No one told Hashbrown that being in the shelter for so long wasn’t his fault, and it breaks my heart.

This incredible Pittie mix is the epitome of a perfect dog. He is friendly, doesn’t bark too much, loves to play, is interested in humans, and is definitely an all-time companion.

Unfortunately, due to the ban on Pitbulls in the state of Arkansas, he is constantly neglected in breeding, simply because of his breed.

In October 2024, Hashbrown will celebrate two years as a shelter dog…and he couldn’t be more heartbroken.

All he wants is a family

Hashbrown arrived at Sherwood Humane Animal Shelterin Sherwood, Arkansas on October 14, 2022. Since his rescue, this black and white boy has been nothing but the sweetest bug.

“He’s been at the shelter since October 14, 2022, and that’s such a long time without housing. He is most likely neglected because he is very quiet, doesn’t bark, he is not the type to say “Hey!” tail wags, tail wags, jump, jump, look at me!” said his adoption profile.

Unfortunately, his breed – a Pitbull mix – is not doing him any favors.

All his potential adopters continue to neglect him due to the Pitbull ban in the state he is in, which has proven to be a nightmare.

Instead of settling into a nice and comfortable house, Hashbrown is forced to sit in a small kennel and watch all his friends get adopted.

Yet even the saddest turn of events like his isn’t enough to dampen Hashbrown’s pretty smile. He is a natural lover, always ready to play and meet new friends, despite the perception of his race.

“If we were to rename Hashbrown, we would name him the Goodest because he is the goodest boy ever,” adds your profile.

Susan, one of the volunteers who helps Hashbrown with his daily outings, is a first-hand witness to his incredible attitude.

Marking her 600 days at the Arkansas shelter, she posted a heartbreaking video of Hashbrown lying in his little kennel on his favorite stuffed animal, looking at passersby with the saddest eyes.

“More than 600 days and nights stuck in a kennel. Poor Hashbrown. That’s not fair at all! He needs a hero ASAP. Susan wrote in the video.

Still waiting

The SHAS team sincerely hopes that Hashbrown adopters are close.

Each new day of his prolonged stay at the shelter is simply heartbreaking and serves him no purpose. The shelter environment, while safe, is a stressful place for dogs, even though their nature may be naturally gentle and well-behaved.

Hashbrown still has hope that his wait is not in vain.

He is already microchipped, neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations.

Her ideal home would be one with a spacious yard and a secure six-foot fencefree of smaller animals and possibly with a female dog. However, I am absolutely convinced that Hashbrown would also thrive as a single pet.

He can’t wait to meet and greet his potential owners at the shelter, so hurry!
