Someone found little Stormi abandoned in a basket at a local Nashville park. She was so sick she could barely move.
She was brought to Wags & Walks Nashville rescue organization where they fought for her life. This little Pittie puppy was so sick that no one believed she would survive the night.
But their formidable staff were not going to give up so easily…
Too sick to move
When Jessica, Medical Manager at Wags & Walks Nashville, first met Stormi, she immediately felt an instant connection with her.
“I was holding her IV and when I looked at her, I swear she was talking to me. I felt a connection, that’s when I volunteered to take care of her.” Jessica said The Dodo.
Unfortunately, Stormi was in terrible condition and She needed a lot of care to survive.
Jessica took her home and set up a bathroom on the ground floor of her house where she usually keeps the animals she fosters.
The first night was rough, but somehow Stormi survived.
When Jessica went to check on her, she found little Stormi sitting up, so she spent most of the night sitting right next to her in that little cage, petting her and talking to her.
“When I arrived at work the next day, everyone was shocked to see that she was literally alive.” Jessica said.
From that moment on, Stormi became a real hospital dog. Every day, Jessica took him to the hospital where her colleagues took over and helped him.
And, to everyone’s surprise, Stormi started showing signs of improvement. After three days in Jessica’s care, Stormi finally started wagging her tail.
It was a remarkable milestone for her, as she literally went from being unable to move to happily wagging her tail and walking around the hospital.
“It was an incredible milestone. That’s when I knew we had a little bit of a boost, she looked stronger. She looked brighter,” Jessica said.
A wonderful fairy tale
During the second week, Stormi started limping around the house.
She was healthier and happier with each passing day, and you could see his little personality coming out.
She met Jessica’s Rottweiler, named Elle, and immediately wanted to play with her. At that moment, Jessica just knew Stormi was going to be okay after all.
“My Rottweiler, Elle, was trying to sleep, and Stormi would come up and squeeze her cheek and pull on her, just wanting her to get up. She’s too sweet a dog to say no! She literally gets up and plays with her even though she’s tired.” Jessica said.
Their favorite activity is playing tug-of-war together.
She really helped bring out the confidence in Stormi and is truly one of the reasons for her ultimate recovery.
Deep down, Jessica knew from the moment she saw their incredible connection that she couldn’t give up on Stormi.
Stormi was officially a foster failure. As soon as Jessica could legally adopt her and sign the papers, she did.
“She’s bigger and stronger and doing everything she wants to do. It makes me extremely happy. It’s an incredible transformation. I love watching her grow every day and seeing new things she does. It’s the perfect storm.” Jessica said.
