Isn’t it amazing how dogs, going through the most difficult times of their lives, still have hope? It’s like they know good times come no matter what.
This is exactly what happened to the dog in today’s story. After being abandoned, he knew that was no reason to give up his smile since he felt his life was about to change for the better.
Abandoned but not afraid
I have the honor to introduce Goose, a 2 year old Great Pyrenees mix. whose spirit continued to shine even at their lowest.
One fateful day, Goose was found tied up to a closing with a heartbreaking note from its former owners, saying that they didn’t want him anymore.
The two passers-by who approached him, wanting to offer him a pet, did not even think that he was left all alone since he never gave up her radiant smile.
Discovering his sad fate and how his spirit never gave in, one of them decided to be more than just a passerby. She held out a loving hand to him and offered to welcome him.
He really loves people. When he saw someone approaching him, he just hoped that they would like them.
Lindsey Hawkins said: Goose’s new adoptive mother.
Hawkins said the note she found on Goose said:
I do not have time. Just take the dog.
And that’s exactly what she did!
But first she took him to the local vet because he was quite dirty and completely covered in ticks.
It was with this in mind that the team of veterinarians who took care of Goose decided to give him a deep cleaning. over a few days so he doesn’t get too stressed.
Whatever its condition, The goose never stopped smiling.
He never showed an ounce of aggression during all of this. I think he knew we were just trying to help him.
If you thought this dog’s smile couldn’t get any bigger, wait until you see that smile when he finds out he’s ready to come home.
New life
Lindsey was so excited to take him home and be his temporary adoptive motherbut Goose had something else planned.
The whole ride home, he kept trying to climb from the back of my SUV to the front seat and eventually to my lap.
When they finally got home, Lindsey discovered that Goose has spent his whole life outside. It was too scared to go near furniture and avoided hardwood floors at all costs.
It was mostly limited to the living room rug or carpeted hallway.
However, It didn’t take long for Goose to adapt to his new environment. In just a few days, he became inseparable from his new brothers and sisters, who understood a flock of chickens and a senior therapy dog, Zeus.
When Lindsay saw how well they got along, she knew he was going to stay.
The day we decided he was going to become a permanent resident. [Goose] stood up on his hind legs, put his front paws on my husband’s shoulders and buried his head in my husband’s chest, as if saying: “Thank you.”
After just two weeks in his new home, Goose completely changed his attitude towards life inside. He loves jumping on Hawkins’ bed like it’s his own, and he no longer has difficulty walking on his parquet floor.
Last word
Despite all the hardships this dog faced, he never let go of his contagious smile. It is truly inspiring to witness his unwavering spirit and resilience.
He even plans to follow in his brother Zeus’ paw prints and become a therapy dog. I am sure he will be amazing at this, spreading comfort, joy and love with his unbreakable spirit.
