Life is never easy for a deaf dog. Often they face challenges that other puppies never have to face.
This can make even simple tasks more difficult for them to complete. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth our time.
Even with their disabilities, we must learn to help them overcome them and live with them.
Yet most people will outright ignore them in favor of other dogs, which is simply not true, because deaf dogs are hardly any different and can be adorable furballs if we give them the chance.
Pickle is just one example. Even though he was surrendered to the shelter by his owner, he had the chance to meet someone who would change his life.
Pickle’s New Beginning
When Molly first met Pickle, she worked at the rescue center where he lived. His owner could no longer take care of him, so he left him there.
She noticed almost immediately that he was different from the other dogs. Pickle was deaf and that meant he needed extra help.
Molly looked at him and realized that he was really depressed. He would just lay in his little corner and do nothing for most of the day.
Given that he had been there for months without his owner, it’s no surprise that he was really sad.
Molly said Animals GeoBeats: “I went home and told my family. They fell in love with him and we adopted him.»
Things changed so quickly for the family when Pickle came into their lives. Molly had never had a dog before, let alone a deaf dog.
It was an unusual situation for her. However, she loved him so much and wanted to give him the best life possible.
Pickle loves training
Molly and her family I spent a lot of time training him and he would soon become a very sweet and trusting dog.
She goes on to say: “He turned me into a crazy dog person who adopts deaf rescue dogs.»
So, naturally, she adopted Lilly, who was also a deaf dog. However, she was also visually impaired, which could cause her many problems.
Molly would do anything she could to help Lilly overcome her problems. One thing she noticed was that a lot of people were afraid of Lilly.
Because she blinks so rarely, it gives people the idea that maybe she’s angry all the time.
When Molly decided to adopt deaf dogs, she knew it wouldn’t be easy.. She would spend months training them.
She says: “It may take months or years to get to certain points and things, but you have to celebrate every little step.»
A huge change for Pickle
So obviously, it was a huge success when Molly helped Pickle overcome his fear of others, and she was so proud of him.
He was a truly special dog. Some of his favorite things to do were hug almost everyone, lay on the couch, and take naps.
However, he doesn’t just like to sleep. Another thing he likes to do is climb mountains. with Molly, and she loves it every time he comes with her.
To say Pickle changed his life would be an understatement. Molly is so happy to have him and Lilly in her life because it has improved her in every way imaginable.
Even though he is getting older and is already 10 years old, Molly is happy to have had the chance to live her life with someone he cares about.
Finally, she said: “I wanted to give him this chance to show what a deaf dog could do.»
