What makes a dog look mean is beyond my understanding. Yet every time people looked at Sully, a 5-month-old Pittie, they saw this “mean, aggressive bully,” causing them to avoid him at all costs.

All they had to do was spend five minutes with him. That’s right! Five minutes, that’s all it would have taken!

Yet Sully had to wait day after day in his smallest prison cell. He went to sleep every night, hoping that someone would eventually recognize how adorable he was.

Then one day this special person appeared…and changed his whole life!

He struggled in the shelter for months

Julia Correll, from Desert Dog Projectthe rescue that helps place dogs in need of medical care and into foster homes, saw Sully and immediately fell in love.

She volunteered to Maricopa County Animal Care and ControlArizona, when Sully’s sad appearance broke her heart. Formerly known as Gindo, he lived in a small kennel with severe arthritis This prevented him from walking properly.

He was rescued as a stray alongside his puppies and a mother dog. Eventually, they were all adopted into loving homes, leaving Sully all alone.

Due to his poor living conditions, he appeared to be much older than he actually was.

“Gindo has been waiting at the shelter for over 3 months… He has severe arthritis and has difficulty walking even a few meters. He was found as a stray and is estimated to be around 5 years old, but he looks much older. He is skinny and covered in sores and scabs. Julia wrote in a Facebook post.

Julia didn’t understand why people found Sully so intimidating. He was the friendliest, most affectionate Pittie she had ever met, but he couldn’t find a home.

“He is the sweetest, most affectionate, loving dog. His favorite thing to do is sit on your lap and roll over and have his belly rubbed. He doesn’t let anyone or anything bother him. He is truly a sweetheart.” she added.

Wanting to give Sully a second chance, Julia decided to take him on daily outings. They both went to a park and spent the whole day there, lying on a blanket and soaking in all the beauty of the world.

In no time, they formed a wonderful bond, which meant only one thing: Sully finally found his savior – and her name was Julia!

The Easiest Dog His Mom Ever Had

Even though it all started as a trial for foster care, It only took Sully a few months to convince his new mom to keep him forever.

He was the easiest foster dog she’d ever had. And even though it took him six months to adjust to home life, he knew the perfect way to win her heart.

“He’s honestly the easiest foster dog I’ve ever had,” Julia wrote on Instagram.

He has his own stroller that he appreciated so much. This way, he could accompany his man everywhere without worrying about his condition.

They walked around town, took trips, explored new things like meeting new friends, and basically did everything he had wanted to do for so long.

Sully had been a people-oriented dog this whole time; he just needed someone to realize it. Julia understood it immediately!

To prevent his worn elbows from deteriorating further, she even offered him her custom orthodontic appliancesapart from the joint injections, acupuncture treatments and physiotherapy he was already undergoing.

His mother did everything she could to help Sully live like a normal dog, and it’s safe to say she succeeded.

In addition to that, She even surprised him with the best gift he could ask for: a brother dog.!

When she adopted another dog, Effie, Sully couldn’t be more excited. He literally acted like Effie’s father, caring for her and being so gentle and loving with her.

After all the troubles of the past, Sully started a family for the second time in his life. But this time, he won’t have to part with it. Instead, he will have many exciting adventures and enjoy his home in Arizona with the best family in the world!
