It is not uncommon to see stray dogs who have been so beaten down by life that they lose their sense of direction or their ability to self-preserve.
Often their hunger and fear will cause them to act out of character and do something extremely dangerous.
In this story we will talk about a stray dog who was seriously injured and ended up on a highway where he was in extreme danger.
A ball of tattered fur
Few months ago, A woman driving on a Southern California highway encountered something strange.
It took him a second, but she realized it was a stray dog trying to get onto the highway.
She stopped her vehicle and tried to help the dog, but he just ran as far as he could in the other direction.
The woman realized that she couldn’t stop on the road like that, so she left. However, before doing so, she called Suzette Hall, from Logan’s Legacyhelp.
She arrived on scene as quickly as she could. Hall tried to find the dog, but she was nowhere in sight. She waited a bit, then she arrived.
Hall said for The Dodo: She would come out onto the highway and sniff the ground as if looking for food. But there was no food, so she went back to the junkyard and hid somewhere.
As she couldn’t find where she was hiding, Hall set out some bait to try to catch the dog.
Each trap contained food, so now, all she had to do was wait for it to appear.
The New Life of Raggedy Annie
Hall didn’t have to wait long, because the dog, now named Raggedy Annie arrived pretty quickly because she was starving.
She says: I couldn’t tell if it was her. But after a minute I looked up and I could see this little ball of fur inside the trap.
Now that she was trapped, she just continued to enjoy the food, but Hall took her to the veterinarian in Southern California where they ran tests on her. to decide what the next step would be.
The first thing they did was shave off his matted fur. Although she was scared the whole time, Annie relaxed once the surgery was over.
Hall said: At first, she wasn’t touchable at all. But when she knew she was safe and removed all those rugs, she came out of her shell. She was ready to start her new life.
A few days later, veterinarians told Hall she was now healthy enough to be placed with a foster family.
However, before doing so, they tried to scan her for a microchip, but I didn’t find any. Hall assumed that she may have had owners before due to her kind nature, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
She was placed in foster care where she will await adoption. Currently we don’t know if she has been adopted, but one thing is for sure: this happy dog has a lot of love to give and can make anyone happy if given a chance.
