Every dog’s biggest dream is to have a loving home and someone who will truly love them for the rest of their life. Unfortunately, most dogs do not have the chance to have this experience and many must settle for a shelter or, at best, a foster family.
Although each of our four-legged friends is going through a difficult time in their own way, no one can understand the pain of dogs with special needs or those suffering from illness. In addition to having to endure all this misery, these poor beings generally have a much harder time finding a permanent home.
One of Minnesota’s Great Pyrenees knows better than anyone what it feels like. Despite his adoptive mother’s best efforts to find him a home, people continued to avoid him.
The burden of his sad condition
The sad fate of Olaf, a four year old dog recently became public. His loving adoptive mother, who lives in Minnesota, has been trying to find him a permanent home for a long time, but all her efforts have been in vain.
However, his latest attempt to introduce this dog to potential adopters was particularly heartbreaking. This really shows the burden this poor creature must carry on his back.
In the video she posted on her TikTok profile, @wilfredthedestroyer, this woman introduced Olaf and his sad story to her subscribers. She wrote that after three months in foster care and no applications for Olaf, she decided to take him to an adoption event.
Although she had hoped that today would be Olaf’s happy day, all her hopes were dashed when they arrived there.
As she explained, there were quite a few people interested in these Great Pyrenees.
Unfortunately, as soon as they discovered his sad state, they simply turned their heads and walked away. It was this reality that simply broke this woman’s heart.
The caption of the video reveals this sad reality: “Olaf suffers from a neurological condition that causes weakness in his back leg. He can walk, run and play – he’s just wobbly and has trouble going up stairs. This made it incredibly difficult to reunite with his forever family. No one wants a big dog with special needs.
It’s not just sad that this dog won’t get his happy ending because of his neurological problem. The fact that no one wants him around just because he’s wobbly and has trouble climbing stairs makes this story even more heartbreaking.
