No matter how much experience you have as an animal rescuer, there are some shows that will always leave you in shock.
THE Street hearts The crew witnessed a harsh truth when they received a shocking call about a dog stuck in a pit. Little did they know that this was only a small part of the whole story.
The dog, named Angel, was not there alone. And she certainly didn’t choose to find herself in a dead-end place.
The call that shocked everyone
The team received a call from the local lady who was feeding Angel, saying that this furry girl had been stuck in a nearby pit, with her newborns. Shocked by this horrible news, rescuers immediately rushed to the scene.
It turned out to be the same dog they had been trying to save for six months, fighting for their lives in a trap with no way out.
But this time, she wasn’t alone! With Angel there was eight of her babies that she had given birth a month before in an abandoned and ruined building. And, two more orphaned puppiesAlso!
The SH team had no proof, but it was clear that the dogs had been dumped there by someone…and then left to wait for the inevitable.
“We have no idea how they ended up in this pit. We could assume that someone probably threw them there. » Anthony said The Dodo.
The rescuers spared no time and immediately pulled the dogs out of the pit. The next thing they knew was a comfortable refuge, away from the uncertainty that was once their life.
Coping with trauma
Soon, Angel and her eight puppies (Dasher, Prancer, Dancer, Cupid, Rudolph, Comet, Vixen and Blitzen), along with the orphans, Immy and Mr. Mushroom, found refuge among their kind-hearted hoomans.
But the problem was – Angel was still dealing with severe trauma from all the neglect and abuse of the past.
It took days for this sweet girl to warm up and let rescuers approach her without her hiding in a corner. And when they finally did, she was as shy as a dog can be.
Without ever abandoning her, the team of rescuers wanted to give this mother dog a new start in life. With lots of attention and affection, they fought to help Angel make huge progress.
And when she finally started making progress, her puppies thrived more too!
They posted a update video of Angel only a month after his rescue, showcasing Angel’s path to full recovery.
“She still has a very long way to go before she can be adopted, but we are happy to be on this journey with her,” »wrote his caregivers.
Finally – The refuge
With her puppies turning into incredible balls of fur, Angel has managed to overcome her past trauma!
She has completely come out of her shell. and started playing with other dogs, finally enjoying being part of a big family. Now, instead of just being a mom, Angel has become a wonderful companion and sibling to many puppies at the rescue.
In January 2024, the team released another Facebook Update.
“Angel is in bloom!” Each day that passes brings out a newfound confidence, revealing his playful and caring nature. It’s wonderful to witness his transformation,” they wrote.
After all the struggles in the past, she’s finally on the right track and she has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
As her puppies are finally ready, Angel looks forward to another chance! She is convinced that at the right time, someone truly special would knock on that door and ask her to be their forever companion.
One thing is certain: she is finally ready. And she is waiting for this moment to come!
