As a sturdy working breed of great strength, descended from the Mastiffs of the Roman legions, can you imagine a Rottweiler terrified of a small puppy as big as its head?
As stupid as it sounds, one member of this world-class guardian breed literally didn’t have the courage to get off the couch because of a little puppy who was just trying to play with him!
However, when he gained confidence in his good intentions, an incredible relationship was created that continues to this day.
This sweet story will melt your heart, but will also make you laugh.
At first the couch was his safe place
A Rottweiler named Dozer got along very well with his sister, Lila, and the two were in true harmony with each other.
That was until the day their mother, Kimberly neighborhooddecided to welcome a new family member into her home in Claremore, Oklahoma.
A little Frenchie named Daisy caused quite a stir among the Rottweilers, and Dozer was particularly upset.
As soon as his new sister arrived at her new home, she had Dozer in spades and wanted to play with him all the time. But he just didn’t know how to react.
“The first few days, he was a little afraid of her.” Kimberly Ward said The Dodo. “She was so little and outgoing and charismatic… She wanted to play with him all the time, but he didn’t know he could be a puppy.”
The further he got from her, the more she ran after him. Shortly, he realized that climbing on the couch was the only thing left for him because Daisy was so small she couldn’t climb on it.
The first days it was his safe place.
She brought out the puppy in him
Daisy was so persistent that there was simply no way she would fail in her plan. She pranced around her big brother, nipping his feet and barking until Dozer had no choice but to give in and play with her.
“The first time he ran with her and realized she would chase him, it was gone,” » Ward said. “He realized he could interact with her.”
From that moment, their unbreakable bond began to blossom. Even though Daisy had incomparably more energy than Dozer, he tried to keep up with her by all means.
They loved chasing each other around the couch, playing in the yard, and playing hide and seek under the bed.
The most impressive thing was that Dozer was not at all aggressive while having fun with his little sister. “He knew he was supposed to be gentle with her and that she was small,” » Ward said.
Playful Daisy really achieved something that no one in the family believed in – she took the puppy out in Dozer.
Playfulness was actually his love language and it was the language Dozer understood best.
New sister fits in perfectly
Even though Dozer and Daisy got along famously and little Frenchie fit in perfectly with the new family, Ward felt she needed someone at her energy level.
Soon the family grew because Mocha was brought to their home in Claremore. Another Frenchie was the perfect playmate for Daisy and a little sister to her Rottweiler siblings.
Daisy loved Mini Mo, as she was called, from day one.
“I bet they play, wrestle, run and chase each other for two or three hours a day.” Ward said:” It’s incredible.”
Just like Daisy, Mocha also loved playing with big boys when she was growing up, although she became a completely different personality from Daisy. She was calm and loved to cuddle.
Dozer, just like Daisy, was gentle with Mini Mo, and sometimes he even deliberately let her win her favorite game of tug of war.
They all truly became one big, happy family.
And when asked if Ward and her family had thought about bringing another little sister into the mix, Ward replied: “There’s always the possibility of having a smaller sister or brother.” For Dozer and Daisy, the more the merrier!
