As everyone knows, dogs are man’s best friend!
The relationship between a dog and a man is truly special. As soon as a dog enters a home, they become part of the family, sharing love, laughter and comfort.
This is why when someone experiences the unfortunate event of losing their beloved dog, their heart breaks into a million pieces because they are unable to accept the fact that their best friend is no longer in their life.
Unfortunate event
Memphis is an adorable dog who became part of his family when he was just two years old.
Shortly after arriving at his new home, he made sure to let everyone know that one of his favorite hobbies is going on fun adventures and exploring the outside world..
“He has always been an opportunist who loves adventure. His most memorable date [was] a visit to the bar a few blocks away, where he spent the night enjoying popcorn with some customers. He is an extremely friendly dog, so he was often picked up by strangers until I found out where he was and got him back. Memphis mother Felecia Schoonover said The Dodo.
Another case in which Memphis managed to escape occurred in April 2019.. While Felecia was taking a shower and her kids were playing in the yard, this smart little dog saw the perfect opportunity for another adventure.
When Felecia finished taking her shower, she started looking for the adorable four-legged friend, but to her surprise, He hasn’t been seen anywhere.
“We went around the neighborhood shouting his name, without success. I spent the next week posting on Facebook and periodically checking the animal shelter. Over the years I have periodically checked their website and Facebook page in hopes of finding him. she says.
Separated from her beloved puppy, Felecia was heartbroken. However, Since her love for Memphis was so great, this incredible dog mom never gave up hope!
After spending years looking for her best friend, Felecia finally found him – but not in the way she expected.
Familiar face
After reading some publications on the Internet, Felecia came across a missing dog poster with a very familiar face.
It was Memphis!
His new family published an article about another of his escapesbut luckily they managed to find him this time.
Finding out where Memphis was all this time really eased Felecia’s mind. However, seeing him with his new family, she didn’t have the heart to take that away from him.
“I was so excited to know that he had been taken care of over the years. I posted in the same group regarding his origins and someone informed me of how his new family had gotten him – someone had kidnapped him and sold them. I didn’t want to tear him away from a family who loved and missed him the same way I loved and missed him. » she declared.
Even though his old family missed him, they didn’t want another family to go through what they went through when he was no longer in their lives.
However, Felecia decided to leave a message at the local animal shelter letting them know that if Memphis ever ended up in their custody, they should contact her immediately because she would take him back.
“I never contacted the family because I didn’t feel the need. I wanted him to be happy, and they made sure of that. It hurt my heart that he had been moving across town all this time, but it wouldn’t be fair to uproot him. said Felecia.
After some time, Felecia received a call she never thought would come.
Finally home
On the other end of the phone, the animal shelter was letting him know they had Memphis. and we wondered if she wanted him back. Saying yes in a heartbeat, Felecia was one step closer to finding her puppy.
As Felecia already adopted another dog after losing Memphisshe was a little scared and overwhelmed because she didn’t know how she was going to take care of two dogs at once.
She also didn’t know if the two would get along well, but she knew she had to give it a try.
“The little sister loves him and he really likes to give her kisses. It’s the same old Memphis we all remember. His favorite place is still next to mom on the couch, he still likes to dig under the furniture looking for hidden crumbs, and he still likes to snuggle with my son, like when they were young puppies together. she concludes.
Memphis certainly had a long and interesting journey back to his family of origin.
